Fluorescent Biosensors in Neurodegenerative Diseases
An immediate opportunity for a PhD student position focusing on the development and utilization of fluorescent protein-based biosensors in neurodegenerative diseases is currently open at the Messens Lab. Successful applicants will become part of the dynamic research environment at the Messens VIB-lab located at the Center for Structural Biology in Brussels, Belgium (www.messenslab.brussels).
The Messens lab is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the redox field, offering an exceptional position in protein biochemistry within a collaborative and team-oriented research group. In this state-of-the-art research setting, you address crucial fundamental questions concerning subcellular dynamics and metabolite communication in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS. This exciting opportunity entails research at the intersection of protein biochemistry, cell biology, microfluidics, and optics as part of a consortium formed between the Messens lab and specialized labs at the VUB focusing on the design of microfluidic devices with advanced laser optics.
